Out with a heavy sigh ...

The Games Pub was conceived to be a free chat and game listing service targeted at helping players of smaller-niche multi-player games find other people to play games with. It consisted of a central server with a client application that would allow users to connect, chat, and meet up with others for just about any peer-to-peer game. Eventually, it was to be expanded to allow launching of games with preset command line parameters, and to allow for setting up of private rooms, among other features.

Its purpose was to fill the gap between the high-budget games that are able to make use of large gaming server systems, and the lower-budget games that have smaller (but very faithful) communities who enjoy them. However, in the meantime, eGameWare has made their client/server software available to the WarGamer.com website for their BattleHQ system. It appears that should more readily fill the gap that the GamesPub was targetting.

Therefore, with a heavy sigh, I have shut down the GamesPub system. (This will allow me to use my development time on new games.) However, the GamesPub idea isn't quite dead yet ... I have something new up my sleeve which may see some daylight down the road -- but it will probably take quite a while to develop. Until then, the Pub's doors will be closed. ;-)

To those of you who helped, gave encouragement, and showed support for the GamesPub project, I give you a hearty Thanks!

Due to a number of different factors, I have decided to discontinue this GamesPub project. The server will most likely go offline by mid-January. If you have any questions or comments regarding this decision, please e-mail me ... In the meantime, I recommend that you check out wargamer.com's BattleHQ as a possible alternative.
